Mother's Day

It has been my new goal (starting this Mother's Day ;) ) to get a picture with all my little guys. Since it is mostly me taking the pictures all the time, Trent's noticed there aren't as many pictures of me - so this is at least a sure way to get one picture of me every year.

Basketball Game!

So on the 4th week of Basketball, it was finally time to play a game. The coach claimed, this should be pretty  entertaining to say the least. Just imagine 10 3-5 year old kids trying to figure out the game! We decided we would try and prep Jack for the big upcoming game. We told him a lot about rebounding and stealing the ball... and he took a lot to heart!

I extremely enjoyed watching this game. When it's your kids out there, you find yourself that much more wrapped up into the game. Now I know this was no professional game or anything.. but it was awesome to see. Jack became a pro at rebounding and blocking shots from the other team. He still has some work to do on his shooting, but I was very impressed with his defense. One of his coaches was quite impressed also 

and joking asked when he was going to start Jr. Jazz.

Blake on the other hand was quite content looking at his hands and talking to other players on the court who didn't seem to care about the game that was happening around them. But I guess that's what you get when you put a 3 year old in basketball. Haha! Love you Blake!

Oh! And I wanted to write down Tyler's latest stats from his 1 year old appointment:

Lasik

Yup... little 'ole me got Lasik last week. What a crazy experience! We knew we were going to try to get it this year, so we did the whole flex spending account thing. Only thing was that I had to wait until I was done nursing Tyler for 3 months before they could do Lasik. So here is my Lasik story...

I originally went to an Optometrist here in Layton. He was so nice, and it was so much cheaper- plus it was practically in my back yard where I would have it done. Only problem was, is that he told me I wasn't a good candidate for Lasik. He didn't even think it was a good idea to do PRK on me :/ . 

Disappointment set in. 

It had been set in my mind I WAS having Lasik, and I had been told before that I was a great candidate- what in the world happened?! Here were the problems: 1. I had not had my contacts out for an extended period of time making my eye cornea on the left not thick enough. 2. Okay, well I guess that was the only problem. HAHA.

So while going through this process of trying to figure out what to do now, I wanted a second opinion - and I was willing to try this time by leaving my contacts out for 5 days prior to the evaluation. - Which meant wearing my glasses - . AHHH. Okay, so they weren't that bad.. but when you have a prescription as high as mine (-8.50) you can't see SQUAT around the outsides of the lens. This then led me to many times stubbing my toe, poking myself straight in the eye with the mascara brush, and multiple headaches.

But let me tell you this. It was all worth it.

So to get back to where I left off, I then decided to get evaluated at Hoopes Vision in Draper, UT. I figured they were known for doing TONS of Lasik surgeries, they would know for sure if I was a good candidate. They did 3 times the amount of scans to check your eyes to make sure you are a good candidate. And I figured since it WAS my eyes, it was best to go with the best. They said I was a great candidate, and the only thing slightly off was that I had a astigmatism in my left eye. But since they now had a laser called IntraLase, that wouldn't be a problem at all.

Know, I have a VERY hard time with ANYTHING coming close to my eyes, I was quite nervous. I couldn't even put eye drops in my eyes with them open!! haha. But the whole process wasn't very scary at all. AND IT WAS SO FAST!

They first brought Trent and I back, they checked my vitals and made sure I knew how to use all of the eye drops for after the procedure (lots of eye drops for 1 week). They then brought me over to the surgery suite, which was surrounded by glass so Trent could watch, and laid me down on the IntraLase table. He took a soft spongelike round thing and put it around my eyelids to keep them open. I then just looked straight up into a circle of lights which then went black. They then counted to 8.. and then that eye was done! Maybe felt slight pressure, but barely anything. 

After the flaps had been made on both eyes, they put me in a massage chair and waited until they were ready to do the laser. - During this time Trent was making comments about how PRK must be done with acid and it was freaking all the people out. It was pretty funny!

They brought me in for the laser and had me focus on a red light. I am glad I wasn't too sure what they were doing, because I wasn't bothered at all during this point ( they were pulling back the flap at this point- ahhh) . The laser itself went for only 18 seconds per eye. The second the flap went back over my eye, I could see!

They sat me up right after the procedure and asked me if I could see Trent. I immediately started crying. I couldn't help it. Something deep inside me was just amazed that my horrible eye sight could be fixed in that short amount of time. It was amazing to me. I COULD SEE!

On my way out the doctor joked that I probably wouldn't even need to donate my glasses considering people in 3rd world countries probably didn't even have that high of prescription! ha!

The next few days to be honest were actually quite hard for me. My eyesight was fluctuating  quite a bit, and they eye drops stung my eyes every time I used them - which was ALOT. Trent's cousin had Lasik the same day and was walking around without his sunglasses claiming how beautiful the world was - and I felt horrible. Haha.

They told me the next day that I still had fluid behind my left cornea which was why the world to me looked very smudged, and that my vision could fluctuate for up to 2 weeks. 

But now my vision is amazing, and it's crazy to me how I can just wake up and view the world as it is. It's been wonderful.. and now I am only a week out - but I am SOO happy I had it done. I wouldn't change it for the world :)

Drawings and us

The boys started Pee Wee Jr. Jazz a couple of weeks ago. It's fun because it's for kids 3-5 years old -so both boys get to play. They love being on the same team. It's funny though, because almost all the kids on the team look and act like 4-5 year olds.. pretty obvious that Blake is the only 3 year old! haha. But he is actually doing much better than we thought he would the first day. He might not have as much coordination as all the other kids that are older than him, but he definitely keeps up :) 

We find ourselves quite impressed from the coach. He does amazing, especially for 10 kids that young. He keeps them moving the whole time, and they learn all the things you would expect at any basketball practice. Too bad it's only for 4 weeks, but at least if they want to play basketball when they get older - they will remember a lot of the basics!

I thought I would add in a couple of pictures the boys have drawn in the last couple of weeks. It's neat to see their imagination in their drawings.

 And I had to add a picture of cute little Tye! He has figured out this little blue ride thing is quite fun. He knows Jack can get him on if he is having trouble.. so it's funny to hear Tye yell and point at Jack and yell, "JJAAAA! JJAAA!" Until Jack picks him up and puts him on! haha. Funny boys.

Oh! Also, my rock-star parents just ran a 1/2 marathon across the Golden Gate Bridge!! How cool are they?!

Guess who's 1 !

Tyler is now 1 years old! Wow that first year flew by fast, and yet it seems like he's been part of our family for much longer :) We just had a small fun little family party where Jack and Blake helped me make the cupcakes - it was fun, special and low stress. In other words, a great little party!

We are so glad Tyler is a part of our family. Happy birthday you handsome little dude!!

Aerial Silks

It was actually nice to sign up to compete at an Aerial Competition. It really makes you work that much harder, and it helped me strive to get better so much faster. It's crazy to think how far I've come from just a few months ago! My strength has increased, and I am learning so many things now! I am so grateful to have found such a fun passion/hobby !

The competition was fun. Trent and Josh came to watch - it was located at the Outlaw in Ogden, UT. Each competitor got escorted up to perform, and there was people surrounding the stage. I forgot what it was like to perform/compete. It was such a rush. I would love to do it again soon.

Even though I wasn't the best one there, I still felt like I did great for myself. The two people that beat me have been doing it for years, and one of them was an instructor! So it didn't bother me too bad :) It was the random people afterwards that told me how awesome it was, or that I should definitely win, that made it totally worth it. 

There were some amazing performances there, and I was just excited to be a part of it all!

Trent's Birthday!

On Trent's birthday it was fun to go with him and our friends out to a trampoline park! We had never done that before, and it was kinda funny that we just decided to go as adults. :) 

We went out to dinner first and even got some frozen yogurt afterwards. I found out that my camera isn't the best for getting 'action shots' of jumping on the trampoline. But that's okay - we still have the memories. haha. Sure love you Trent!

If you look closely.. Tye's shirt says, "I DIG MY DAD." I thought it was fitting since it was Trent's birthday. :)
