~*% This is the day I married the love of my life %*~
Trent and I met when I was 12 years old. My brother Jason had brought him over to our house in Lander, WY to come and jump on our trampoline. I remember when I first saw him... I just had waken up from a nap, and imediately went back inside to fix my hair. There was something about him.. I can't put my finger on it, but I liked him imediately. Some would call it "love at first sight".. and who knows, maybe it was! He became my night in shining armor, and little did I know - that is how he would always stay.. :)
Years went by and I always tried to make excuses to be able to see Trent. He was a friend of my brother's, so I always tried to be around. He and his brother Josh would come over for some trampoline lessons, that was always a great excuse to see him. We started swing dancing alot together, we made a great pair! A few of the memories I have were from some of the Hospitals Christmas parties, where we would go and dance. I also remember a time we had a new years eve party at our house, which was located out of town. Trent had other plans, but he came to pick up Josh and Tyson after the party was over. He ended up sliding on black ice, and his car and all the passengers went off the road. One of my friends accused him of being drunk, which was funny, because it couldn't have been more far from the truth. Also, there were a couple of times Trent and Josh had driven me up to EFY. The first time I was going to a gymnastic camp, and they were at EFY on the same campus. The second time we all were going to EFY. I remember writing in my journal at the time how much I admired them, and how much I had hoped that they would always be a part of my life. Also... that I wanted to marry someone "just like Trent". I remember Trent sat down on his guitar and sang "Free Fallin", by Tom Petty.. It was the first time Trent had ever sang to me on the guitar. I distinctly remember him looking me straight in the eye when he sang the part about the girlfriend - it made my heart skip a beat. I always tell Trent now, that he is the reason why my heart beats so fast all the time.. It's because I love him so much!!
We both got older, and I would still watch his car drive by every morning past the Junior High before I went inside. By the time I got to High School, he had graduated early and had moved to Jackson Hole, WY. I was pretty bummed. It was then that I finally realized that he had more than 2 siblings!
He came back to Lander for his Mission Farewell.. I was in the 10th grade at the time.
I wrote him on his mission, including a fake Dear John letter (it was pretty funny, it included a XXL pair of underwear and lots of random things). I sent him a few packages, and many many letters (although if you ask him, he will tell you I never wrote him ;) . If I ever forgot to write him, my mother would say, "If you don't write him back, he will marry someone else when he gets home!" LOL. I couldn't imagine him marrying anyone else, so of course I HAD to write him!
I was at the airport when he got off the plane. It was great to see him again! I remember everyone went to Wendy's after he gave hugs to all his family (including some girl he 'thought' was his cousin - hehe.) But I remember him talking and all of a sudden switching into spanish.. and he didn't even realize it!
We hung out a few times since he had arrived at home, and I think he realized I was all grown up now. It was one night when we had gone waterskiing with a few friends, and I had realized that I had forgotten my swimsuit up by the lake. Trent drove me back up to the side of the road where I could run down and see if I could find my swimsuit. While running down to the lake I ran into a barbed wire fence. I got 3 ripps in my jeans, and I was bleeding. (I still have those jeans, and a small scar on my thigh). When I came back up to his wagon... OH I FORGOT TO TELL YOU.. yeah, he bought a wagon- LOL. We both had '92 maroon Ford Tauruses, but mine was a sedan and his was a WAGON! hehe in case you forgot. (he always jokes the reason I married him was because of the wagon). Oh anyway, when I came back up to the car Trent was standing outside by the hood. The stars were out, and I was a little preoccupied because my leg was bleeding, but he then leaned down and kissed me! He kissed me!! And that was the start to our story * .
While dating, we traveled quite a bit together, including a trip up to Oregon, and many to Utah. Trent moved in with Steve Gard in Riverton for awhile, while he was attending CWC.
We dated for a year before we got engaged. He sang me a song on the guitar and gave me hand picked wild flowers. Oh how I love that boy! We got married less than 3 months later. We had our reception a few days before in Lander, WY where we had ice cream and my Father and our families sang and provided entertainment. The next day I had my endowments take out at the Jordan Temple, and we got married early the next day.We got married in the MT. Timpanogos Temple at 7:30 in the morning
