A busy perfect day

We woke up to a soft knocking on our door. Jack always does this in the morning, so cute and so subtle. I opened the door and crawled back into bed. Most days if Trent is still there he crawls back into his own bed, and if Trent's at work he will crawl in with me. But this morning I invited him to crawl up with both of us. He cuddled up between us and talked for a straight 30 minutes about his birthday. At first it took us a little while to convince him it was finally his birthday ( His actual birthday was on the 22nd, but since his party wasn't until Friday we wanted him to have a whole day to celebrate). When we finally heard little Blake calling for me, we all got up and ate breakfast and got ready for our day.

Trent then headed off to work for an hour or so while the boys and I headed off to Jack's 4 year doctors appointment. Jack was excited because he knew he wasn't going to have to get a shot this time. When we first got there we took the elevator down (cause it's awesome) and got checked in. This time he took his shoes off, weighed in at 46 lbs (97%), and was 44 in (97%) in height. He then had his vision checked by holding up something in front of both eyes. When we got to the exam room, he jumped up onto the table.

This appointment was actually really fun and entertaining. This was his first appointment where the doctor asked him all the questions. At first, being shy and all, he wasn't answering right away - so Blake decided to answer for him, haha. "Jack, do you eat your fruits and vegetables?" . Blake blurts out, "YEAH!" . Then Jack decides it's okay to answer, "Yeah I eat carrots and broccoli." The doctor then asks, "Jack, do you know your colors?" . Blake then blurts out, "WHITE!" . Jack nods. "My shirt is orange. Mommy's shirt is purple." - When the doctor asked him to count to five he did it super fast and made her laugh. "Apparently he doesn't have a problem with counting!" She was also impressed he not only knew all his letters, but he could write most of them, and could even write his name (with exception of the letter 'K' on occasion). When we finally were all finished, both boys were ecstatic to get suckers and ride the elevator back up.

After the appointment, Trent was on his way over to check on the progress of the Roy house, so we decided to head to the store to grab ingredients to make Jack's cake for his party that evening. Once we all got home we decided that we wanted to go out to eat for Jack birthday as a family. We headed over to Apple-bees. MMMmmm. Yummy. One of the funniest parts of this outing, was that after we had eaten all the appetizers, Blake thought all the food was gone. So when the manager passed by our table to see how we were all doing, Blake looked up at him with his big blue doe eyes and firmly said, "MORE!" . haha. The manager chuckled and had them send us an extra plate of fries. It was hilarious, this darn kiddo knows how to get his way. haha!! When the food came out, we all ate til we were fat and happy. Then.. all the waiters came and starting singing a birthday song to Jack. Jack is so funny, the second he gets a little bit embarrassed, he hides his chin in his neck and looks up. Trent and I were cracking up the entire time they were singing. But he was thrilled to have the ice cream they brought him, and I was thrilled to have the triple chocolate melt down. MMMmmm hmmm.

After that we all headed over to the park. It was a great day to play, and the boys really enjoyed the slides and running around. We all raced back to the car afterwards and headed home. I realized there were still a few things I needed from the store for Jack's party (one of them being gifts from us), so I headed to the store and got all the stuff we needed. The boys cleaned up at home and took a nap while I was gone. As soon as I got home, I threw the cake in the oven, and then I had to run to the doctor really fast to get a doppler scan of my leg. Apparently since only one of my legs had swollen up over night, my doctor wanted to make sure I didn't have a DVT. But no worries, it came back negative.

On my way home I stopped by the dollar store - yup, to grab some last minute balloons for the party. As I was walking in the store, there was one of the employees at the entrance of the door trying to stop a woman from walking out of the store with merchandise! She was shop lifting!! Stuff was flying everywhere and the girl managed to get out of the store with whatever she had taken. They called the police right away. It was crazy! - But after a few minutes my brother Jason stopped by and followed me back home :) He is super busy these days with school and his fiance so we don't get to see him as much anymore - so it was great!

As soon as I got home, I switched into overdrive trying to finish the cake before the party started. Yup, should've given myself more time- haha. But as awesome as Trent is, he helped me frost the different pieces of the cake. Pieces, you may ask? Why yes, I made a 'Lego Cake' :) . It would have turned out better if I had more time to let it cool down ( frosting would've been smoother ). But hey, for a 4 year old, it turned out great!

The party started at 6. We had a lot of fun!! We used egg yolk and food coloring to paint the sugar cookies before we baked them. Although I made have been a little over excited when I baked them (they all grew into each other making one large sugar cookie), they still tasted good, and were fun to make :) We had pizza, and veggies, and when the time was right we had Jack blow out his candles. Good thing we went and grabbed our neighbors matches too, because Jack kept blowing them out before it was time :) ! We played with balloons, had great company, and watched Jack open presents. It was a very fun birthday, for a very special birthday boy. We love you Jack! You are now 4!!

As crazy as this day was, it was absolutely so fun. I love my little family, and it was awesome celebrating with fun people! No matter how busy our days can be sometimes, its always good to remember how memorable they can be and how much you will miss them when your days slow down. Until next time.. keep on smiling :) !

Happy Birthday Jack!

Jack turns 4 today!! I can't believe it's been 4 years since this little guy entered our lives. What a character he is! He is very kind hearted, and pretty darn smart if you ask me.

*He can write most of his letters (and has known the alphabet since he learned to talk)
*Do addition if both numbers are less than 10 (so he can use his fingers)
*Recognize some simple words when reading *Sing his own written songs on the piano
*Builds lots of buildings and towers out of anything
*Loves to sing the 'clean up' song when cleaning
*Loves to shovel snow
*Helps me cook
*Needs a glass of water next to his bed when sleeping
*Explains how his 'airplane work' has EVERYTHING you would ever need
*And always talks about how he is going to be a daddy when he grows up.

Jack loves the role of big brother, he always seems to keep Blake entertained - and makes sure he is safe. He of course, will always pick on him from time to time - but hey, that's what brothers are for!

We are happy he is a big part of our family, and we couldn't imagine life any other way.

We love you Jack!! Happy 4th Birthday!

Love & hair loss :)

Happy Valentines Day!!

So for Valentines Day this year, the boys and I made cards :) . We made about 7-8 cards, and Jack was writing his name and writing the letters to 'I love you' and 'Happy Valentines Day' on some.. but near the end, Jack said, "Wow.. I can't do anymore, my hands are tired!" haha

He was excited telling me which card he was planning on giving to his daddy, his grandparents, his best friend Hayden, his uncle Josh and aunt Keri and his great grandma and grandpa. So far we have only given out one - but we will slowly spread the love!

Bet you can't tell which one was Blake's card ;) He did such a good job!!

On the night of Valentines Day we actually had some friends over and ate YUMMY homemade blondies! I was so impressed with myself, since it was my first time making them and they turned out fantastic (insert proud face) . Plus, I made them 'valentiney' since I put Valentine colored M&M's on the top! Haha <3

The boys are so funny. I had to add this picture of them after they put balls under their shirts and told me they had babies in their bellies too. What funny little people!

So, as we all know, Blake's hair just really fits his little personality. But it had gotten to the point where it was time to have it cut. ( Trent had a harder time cutting it than me, believe it or not! ) We still wanted it to look like 'Blake' So we didn't cut it all off. Here are the before pictures:

And after:

I hope everyone had a superb Valentines Day and spent it with those that they love. It's such a funny holiday honestly. But it sure gives us a good reason to bake goodies, make cards, and eat lots and LOTS of chocolate. Oh yes... must never forget the chocolate!

Daily happenings..

Jack went to the dentist for the first time earlier this week. He did fantastic! He has gone with Trent and I before while we were having our teeth cleaned.. but this time it was just for him. And as crazy as it sounds - I had never been more proud. HAHA. He laid in the chair and opened his mouth real wide, and did everything the dental hygienist/dentist asked him to do! Even got his own cool toothbrush and got to pick the different flavors of the stuff cleaning his teeth.

Right before the dentist came in though, I was of course a stupid proud mother, had my camera up about to take a picture and he comes in grinning, "Picture time, huh?!" haha. I turned bright red and just put the camera away- haha. So yeah.. didn't get the picture- and I'm sure he wouldn't have minded one bit even if I kept snapping away. We love our dentist, he's great!

One thing we found out about with little Jackster's teeth, is that he has Enamel Dysplasia, or Enamel Hypoplasia. Which basically means the enamel on his teeth isn't as thick as it should be, making it easy for him to chip teeth or get cavities. It can also cause some of his teeth to get a little discolored. :( Poor guy!! Good thing we've been brushing his teeth good! But at least now we will even make the extra effort to brush REALLY good. The dentist explained Jack's teeth don't worry him at this point, but we should keep a close eye on his teeth, and if they get bad enough there are other options we can do. Hopefully we won't have the same problem with his permanent teeth, but I guess we'll see!

Blake has been talking up a storm lately. It's so fun to see him communicate with not only us, but with Jack. He can repeat anything, and has a huge vocabulary. His favorite thing to say is "Watch Mommy!" right before he does anything. Haha. And of course, " Mo peas"(more please) when he wants something. Oh.. and speaking of 'speaking'.. I asked Jack why he kept asking 'WHY' all the time.. he responded with, "It's my favorite question." Oh man, I love these boys!

I am currently 31 weeks pregnant. Baby boy is so incredibly active! I am excited for him to be here in just a couple short months. Before you know it, we will be out-numbered by children. Haha. Hopefully it goes well :) We are down to three names that we really like.. but I think we will wait until the little guy arrives to see which one fits him the best. It's funny how when you're pregnant you are so anxious for the little one to arrive, time just seems to creep by. But I guess should be enjoying this time to sleep through the night! And like I keep saying.. this pregnancy has gone by so slow, and so fast all at the same time. But still... April can't come soon enough ;) - Oh yeah... and he's already measuring 2 weeks ahead! He's going to be a big boy just like his brothers and his daddy!

We celebrated Josh's birthday yesterday! It was so fun having both Josh, Keri, Mike, Brittany, Mama, Papa, and us and the boys all under one roof enjoying a fun night. It's fun having family so close :)

Trent went and got his esophagus stretched twice in the last month. I am proud of him for finally going to see a doctor! Apparently the normal esophagus is 18-22mm in diameter. His was 11 !! No wonder he was having things get stuck occasionally! But now he says he's feeling much better and doesn't have to drink water with EVERYTHING he eats. Hopefully it says open for quite awhile. He even went and got allergy tested to make sure that wasn't why his esophagus was so inflamed. Yes.. it was his WHOLE esophagus! But all those tests came back negative. Of course they did! He's such a healthy guy! Crazy kid ;) It was actually fun, because we were able to go to his doctor apt. and mine all in the same morning together. It was like our 'date day'. haha.

Besides all that we are keeping busy as always! Can't smile unless life keeps you entertained :)
