Happy Holidays

Last week I received a letter. It was titled "Happiness in 2013" ~ and I wanted to share it.
* You have the power to choose your own happiness. People, situations, and events outside of yourself will affect you. But no one can give you happiness.

You may try to find all kinds of things outside of yourself that reassure you that you are happy -- or keep unhappiness at bay. But even the most substantial of them will be short lived.

Romantic love, family, work, success, friends, interests, status and wealth can certainly affect your well-being. They may for many years, save you from the need to look harder and further at your own happiness. Yet sometimes even in the midst of "everything," you may have unsettled feelings.

A happy person can have everything that the world regards as important. But someone can also have all those things and not be happy.

What makes the difference?

Gratitude makes the differenceFocusing on all the blessings that you have been given and what you can give to others brings positive feelings to our outlook on happiness.

This not only makes it possible to experience happiness; it also makes it possible to be content, have optimism, and peace of mind during times that are difficult.

There will be times in our life when we forget that gratitude is the key to overcoming self-doubt, anxiety, fear and dissapointment.

Happiness cannot be found by "hoping for the best." It only comes from service to others and remembering how blessed we are. If we can set only a few minutes aside each day, to think of what we can give to make another happy, we will have joy in our hearts.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas ~ From Trent, Christy, Jack, Blake, Tyler and Buddy !
